Brawler, Magician and Shadow are the three class names supported by the current demo and Early Access announcements. Start with Brawler if close combat appeals to you, or Magician if you want an elemental focus. Shadow is the newly announced option.
Which class should you pick?

Are all six classes available?
The store advertises a broader six-class design, but that headline is not a verified six-class launch roster. The April demo announcement lists Brawler and Mage; the new Early Access announcement adds Shadow. Do not plan your first character around an unannounced class name.
Your race matters too
Choose the race–class pairing together. The game calls that pairing an archetype, with its own skill tree. Check the abilities shown during character creation before confirming, rather than treating two characters of the same class as identical.
Can a Brawler use magic?
Yes: universal spells can come from crafted spellbooks if you meet their attribute requirements. Picking a melee-focused class does not mean abandoning magic. Read a spell’s requirements before investing in an off-stat just to equip it.
Is there a best class?
We do not have launch-build testing that supports a tier list. The useful choice today is the combat style you want to learn. A class ranking without a build, patch and encounter context would give you false precision.
